Supremacist scoffs at idea fire connected to reputation, past activities
Ottawa police suspect arson was behind a fire Wednesday that destroyed a Carlsbad Springs house on property belonging to a prominent white supremacist.
The 20-hectare farm is owned by Ian Verner Macdonald, a former high-ranking Canadian diplomat who became better known in the 1980s and beyond as a supporter of ultra-right wing causes, including Nazi groups and British Holocaust denier David Irving. Mr. Macdonald has served as an adviser for the Canadian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.
