New Zealand news on Stuff.co.nz: Ban blocks Nazi souvenirs

Internet auction site TradeMe's refusal to allow members to sell Nazi memorabilia has prompted one of its biggest sellers to switch to a new auction site so he can keep dealing in Nazi bayonets, military badges, helmets and caps. David Harcourt, of Thorndon Antiques in Wellington, said TradeMe's stance was "silly", but refused to talk about his interest in selling the goods or where he acquired them, beyond saying "from dead Germans' heads" and another collector. New Zealand Jewish Council president Stephen Goodman said it was legal to sell Nazi memorabilia, but he believed there were moral grounds for not trading in it. "The Jewish community is really disappointed at anything that attempts to glorify the Nazi regime and the horrors that were perpetuated by it," he said.
