Daily Nebraskan - National Socialist Movement speaks to crowd at Capitol

The inscription over the Nebraska Capitol's north door reads, "The Salvation of the State is the Watchfulness of its Citizens." On Saturday, Lincoln police officers perched like gargoyles above that text, watching the pandemonium unfold below them. The National Socialist Movement came to Lincoln, and from 1 to 3 p.m. a scene straight out of "The Blues Brothers" took place. About 25 neo-Nazis, some dressed in Ku Klux Klan garb, lined the top of the Capitol steps, waving Nazi and Confederate flags. They shouted their group's rhetoric through a speaker system at a crowd of hundreds, almost all of whom showed up to oppose them. (...) "Nebraska Nazi" Gerhardt Lauck delivers a pro-white separatism speech on the steps of the Capitol building Saturday afternoon. Lauck has spent time in a German jail for distributing neo-nazi propaganda from his longtime Lincoln publishing business.
