Five arrested in arson hate crime

Firefighters rushed to two Terrace Avenue houses at 2:30 in the morning on May 30. The flames and smoke billowed into the air, burning trees and even neighboring houses. Now detectives say the gang leader responsible committed a hate crime. An undercover Indianapolis Police Gang Task Force member says, "He did not want this black family to move into that house." Gang Task Force officers arrested James Holwager, Richard Hacker, Dennis Craig, Michael Litel and Doris Litel; all part of a gang linked to a white supremacist group. The undercover officer says the fire "started at one location. They broke into the house and started it with one flammable substance."
