Brian Nielsen was given 14 years in prison for beating a couple at their Pemberton Twp. home with baseball bats. (...) Before hearing his sentence, Nielsen read a lengthy statement that proclaimed his innocence. His conviction was the result of a biased prosecution that sought to taint the jury because of his white supremacist views, he said. Henry Baird, the man who was with him that night, pleaded guilty to the crime and is serving a 15-year term. Baird, 37, of Sidney, N.Y., took credit for the beating during testimony at Nielsen's trial. Nielsen said he tried to stop the attack, which took place after he and Baird had been drinking for several hours. During the trial, prosecutors showed Nazi and other white supremacist memorabilia owned by Nielsen they said fueled a hatred of minorities that led to the attack.
