Police probe more racist graffiti in Perth - National - www.theage.com.au

Vandals have painted racist slogans on buildings in three Perth suburbs as police continue to investigate another similar graffiti spree over the weekend. The Foo Win Chinese Restaurant in the southern suburb of Willeton, one of three restaurants firebombed and painted with swastikas in February this year, was sprayed with racist graffiti and plastered with posters for the Australian Nationalist Movement (ANM) overnight. The ANM is a right-wing extremist group once headed by well-known neo-Nazi Jack van Tongeren, but police have said they have no proof linking him to the attacks. Similar messages and posters were found on a synagogue, a police station and medical offices yesterday. Perth's Jewish community yesterday described the attack on the Hebrew Congregation Jewish synagogue as devastating. "Many relations of holocaust survivors were subjected to seeing it and it had a terrible effect on them," Rabbi David Freilich said. Police said those attacks included anti-Jewish, anti-African and "anti-everything" messages. "They appear to be linked by the style of graffiti, the paint used, the posters that were glued onto the windows of the places that have been targeted," a spokesman said of the Saturday night attacks.
