Union of Councils for Soviet Jews: Neo-Nazi Leader Will Be Released on Bail
A Moscow region judge rejected a prosecutor’s motion to continue the jailing of neo-Nazi leader Aleksandr Barkashov as he awaits trial, according to a January 30, 2006 report by the Interfax news agency. Mr. Barkashov, the founder of Russia’s most notorious neo-Nazi group Russian National Unity, was arrested (along with three of his followers) in connection with an assault on a police officer in the Moscow region's Ozersky district.
