Hate crimes on rise in state
Graffiti at synagogue is the town's first reported anti-Semitic incident in 2006; ADL says incidents up 15 percent statewide in 2005. (...) Anti-Semitism in Florida rose 15 percent last year, with 199 anti-Semitic incidents reported statewide in 2005, up from 173 incidents in 2004, according to the ADL.
Incidents for the Palm Beach region, which includes Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties, increased from 36 in 2004 to 47 in 2005.

Though the number of anti-Semitic incidents declined across the nation last year, the Anti-Defamation League said Wednesday it is troubled that the number of incidents in the upper Midwest is on the rise so far this year. The ADL documented 45 anti-Semitic incidents last year across a six-state region that includes Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, said Lonnie Nasatir, regional director for the ADL's Greater Chicago/Upper Midwest office. That number was down about 12 percent from 2004.
