A prison officer has denied deliberately placing a racist in a cell with an Asian inmate. Julie Goodman said she would be disgusted if officers had planned "gladiator" fights between prisoners of different ethnicities. Robert Stewart murdered another inmate, Zahid Mubarek, in March 2000, before the teenager's scheduled release from Feltham Young Offenders' Institution. The inquiry into the death heard Ms Goodman was told to watch Stewart. In her evidence, Ms Goodman confirmed that two months before the killing, she had allocated Stewart to a cell with a different Asian inmate at the west London jail.
