Scotsman.com News - Plans for University Debate with BNP Chief Condemned
Anti-racist groups today condemned plans for the leader of the British National Party to speak at Prince William’s university. Nick Griffin has been invited by students at St Andrews University in Fife to take part in a debate on the shortcomings of multiculturalism.
Mr Griffin, whose party has been probed by police over claims of inciting racial hatred, is due to speak at the university’s debating society next week. He will discuss the motion that “This house believes that the multicultural experiment has failed”.
The BNP leader was invited to speak by debating society president Peter Blair, 21, who is in his final year at the university. The motion was approved by the student association board. However, the move has been attacked by anti-racist groups, some of whom have refused to participate in the debate as opposition.
