Kommersant: Skinheads Disquiet the Russian Embassy
Polish skinheads beat up four teenagers, children of employees of the Russian and the Kazakh Embassies, in a park in Warsaw Sunday night. The incident has grown into an international scandal. The Polish Ambassador to Russia Stefan Meller was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a crime.
Three Russians – Artem Konovalov, 17, Kirill Levitin, 18, and Alexay Kudryavtsev, 17, – and a Kazakh teenager, whose surname is not disclosed, were coming home from cinema at about 6 pm on July 31. They were encircled by a group of 10-15 aged 20-25 years. The teenagers say they had an impression that the group was organized. The attackers seized cell phones and money from the teenagers, and then started beating them. Afterwards, the attackers got on the bus and left. The two boys were diagnosed with light brain concussions, others had various contusions and injuries. The Polish law enforcement agencies refuted the statements of the Russian Embassy that the act was carefully planned. The Russian Embassy to Poland claims that assaults on Russians in Poland have assumed a systematic and well-directed character.
