London Free Press: News Section - Hate crime fight gets $200,000

The provincial funding is a 'welcome first step' for the hate crime/extremism unit made up of 10 police forces, including London's. A fledgling police anti-hate unit got a boost yesterday when the Ontario government anted up a $200,000 grant to keep the unit alive for another year. The hate crime/extremism unit, made up of 10 police forces, including London's, had asked for $500,000 over three years. Instead, Queen's Park yesterday offered less than half that in one-time funding.
