Race cited in shootout

Police say a shootout that injured two women early this week likely was caused by racial tensions in a Near-Eastside neighborhood. Indianapolis Police Detective Chester Gooch, who is investigating the incident, said it appears a war of words and threats has gotten out of control along Cottage Avenue near State Avenue.
