Reuters - Vandals daub swastika near Notre Dame
Vandals have drawn a swastika and written "Death to the Jews" on a wall in front of Paris's Notre Dame cathedral, the first such desecration in the capital after a series of similar attacks in eastern France. (...) Police have not found any organised effort behind the sporadic attacks, which the media have linked with neo-Nazi groups in the Alsace region.
"This seems like a cat and mouse game with the forces of order," Lustiger told reporters in Lourdes, the pilgrimage centre the Pope chose for his two-day visit. The cardinal, who was born Jewish and lost many family members during the Holocaust before converting to Catholicism as a teenager, said he doubted young people were attracted by Nazi ideas which he described as "out of date, without interest".
