Van Tongeren 'may be in SA' - National Breaking News - Breaking News 24/7 - NEWS.com.au
SOUTH Australian police said white supremacist leader Jack van Tongeren and another member of his neo-nazi group could be in SA, after breaching bail conditions in Western Australia. Van Tongeren and Matthew Billing, from the Australian Nationalist Movement, absconded while on bail last week, ahead of their trial in Perth this month for allegedly plotting to firebomb four Chinese restaurants in 2004.
They failed to meet daily reporting conditions just weeks after a district court judge granted them bail despite repeated opposition from prosecutors. Yesterday, police raided three properties around Gingin, 87km north of Perth, and Bindoon, 84km north of Perth, as part of their hunt for the wanted men. (...) Van Tongeren, Billing and another man, John van Blitterswyk, are due to be tried on March 20 over the alleged conspiracy to firebomb the Chinese restaurants.
