O-R Online - Hull says he enjoyed 'messing with' FBI
David Wayne Hull continued to maintain his innocence Monday, claiming he had full knowledge of the FBI infiltration of his Ku Klux Klan group. The 41-year-old Amwell Township KKK leader is charged with multiple counts, including manufacturing, possessing and transferring a pipe bomb; demonstrating the manufacture of a pipe bomb; possession of a silencer; possession of firearms by a convicted felon, and tampering with a witness. His trial before U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster is in its third week. John Carmelo, the government's key witness against Hull, was not very good at hiding the fact that he was providing federal investigators with information about white supremacist groups and later tape-recorded conversations between himself, Hull and other Klan members, Hull said. Carmelo was paid slightly less than $50,000 for his role as both confidential informant and then-cooperating FBI witness.
