BBC NEWS - Abusive texts sent to BNP mole
A man has been convicted of sending an abusive message to a "mole" who helped expose the activities of the far-right BNP in Yorkshire in a BBC documentary. Andrew Sykes received two abusive texts after working with an undercover reporter on the BBC programme Secret Agent, which was aired in July.
Jeremy Oakley, 40, of Thornhill, Dewsbury, pleaded guilty to sending a text message calling Mr Sykes "scum". He will be sentenced by Batley and Dewsbury magistrates on 15 September.
Mr Sykes feared for his safety and that of his family after receiving the message from Oakley, which read: "What's your name, you scum. From C18," the prosecution said. The abbreviation C18 stood for the extreme right group Combat 18, the court was told.
