Friedrich Engel; Nazi Officer Known as 'Butcher of Genoa'

Friedrich Engel, 97, a former Nazi SS officer involved in the massacre of Italian prisoners in World War II, died overnight Feb. 4 or Feb. 5, according to his wife. She did not give a cause of death or say where he had died. She said his remains have already been buried.
