Jerusalem Post | Breaking News from Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish World

The Interior Ministry may soon have the authority to reject citizenship applications for people engaged in neo-Nazi activities, but on Wednesday the government opposed a proposal by Shinui MKs to strip individuals of their citizenship as a punishment for such behavior. The bill was submitted following reports of non-Jewish Russian-speaking immigrants who have become involved in neo-Nazi activity in Israel. Shinui MK Eliezer Sandberg was forced to postpone the vote on the preliminary reading of a bill that would have given the interior minister the right to take away citizenship for someone who identifies with Nazism, or engages in neo-Nazi activities.
