Union of Councils for Soviet Jews: Moscow Skinheads Stab Brazilian Stock Analyst

A Brazilian stock analyst who has lived in Russia for 25 years was stabbed by a group of skinheads in Moscow, according to a December 20, 2005 article in the national daily Novye Izvestiya. The analyst, who only gave his first name (Antonio), was set upon near the Chistye Prudy metro by a group of youths whom he identified as skinheads. One of them came at him from behind and stabbed him, causing him to fall down, at which point the youths started to kick and punch him “for a long time” all the while yelling at him, “Why did you come here, black ass?!” Witnesses to the crime reportedly chose not to get involved. Antonio then asked a security guard for help, and he called the police, who he alleges did nothing to help him, left him bleeding on the sidewalk, and refused to record the incident. Only after he was taken to a hospital and complained about the police’s conduct did an officer visit him and take down details of the attack.
