More than 20 racial crimes have been committed in Russia in 2006, according to human rights organizations. “Two racial murders and 21 racial attacks have been committed in Russia this year,” deputy head of the Sova Information and Analytical Center Galina Kozhevnikova was quoted by Interfax as saying at a Thursday press conference in Moscow. Kozhevnikova said that the incidents happened in the Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg. A Sova research found that 179 racial attacks were perpetrated in Russia last year, resulting in the killing of 28 people and 366 being wounded. Most of the attacks took place in Moscow and its suburbs, St.Petersburg, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and the Sverdlovsk region, the organization said.
